VOLUNTEERS

Parents are always welcomed to volunteer. We need volunteers to work with children in their learning activities and to help prepare instructional materials. To ensure the safety of our students, all on-site volunteers are required by LAUSD to submit an application and may not start volunteering until they have been cleared to do so. You may submit your application online at this website: https://parentws.lausd.net/parentauthen/index.jsp

Why is this a requirement? Just as we want to ensure that every adult we allow onto campus is supposed to be here, we want to ensure that ALL volunteers have been vetted by the school district. This is not a Multnomah Policy. This is a LAUSD policy.

Parents may also support teachers with projects from home. This does not require the online application.  This year, all teachers will have access to a Google form where all staff can log and record all time donated by parents to support our school on and off campus.   This document will be utilized for our volunteer recognition and other events.

PARENT CENTER

The parent center is supported by our Community Representative, Jennifer Garcia.  We will send home information for when parents are invited to the parent center either for in-person workshops, PAT (Parent Action Team) meetings, or time to work on and support class projects.  Be on the look-out via our monthly calendar or weekly updates.

PARENT COUNCILS

Our school offers many ways for parents to participate in school decisions. Membership in any council requires parents to attend all monthly meetings on a regular basis.

Missing 3 meetings will call for mandatory resignation.

    • School Site Council (SSC): This council develops and assesses the Single Plan for School Achievement and assists in budget making decisions.
    • English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC): The ELAC Council advises and makes recommendations on the implementation and evaluation of the school’s Master Plan program and services for English Learners.
    • Local School Leadership Council (LSLC): The LSLC Council(LSLC) is the school’s governance body that is responsible for the management of the school activities schedule, equipment needs and guidelines, copiers, textbooks, and discipline issues.

PAT (Parent Action Team)

Headed by Ms. Jen, the PAT team supports our school in the set up and take down of many activities.  PAT also supports with school-led fundraisers.  The team meets to brainstorm ways they can help and support our school, students, and teachers.
