DRESS CODE (BUL.6494.1)

All students shall be required to show proper attention to personal cleanliness, health, neatness, safety, appearance and suitability of clothing for school activities. In every case, the dress and grooming of the student shall not:

1. cause a distraction from or disturbance in any school activity or interfere with the participation of a student in any school activity;

2. create a hazard to the health or safety of the student or others.

Our scholars should dress for success! Our school dress code is put into place to encourage better behavior and most importantly to prevent distracting or unsafe attire, such as gang attire. The optional school uniform colors are navy blue polo shirts, and khaki pants, skorts, or shorts.

  • Shoes and clothes should be suitable for participating in all school activities including physical education
  • Please do not send your children to school with any:
    • open-toed shoes, heely, crocs, wheelie, high heels
    • shorts that are too short
    • skirts that are too short
    • t-shirts with inappropriate messages
    • jeans with holes and tears (intentional or not)
  • What's too short?
    • put your arms by your side; if what you are wearing is shorter than where your longest fingertip falls, it is too short.

OUTERWEAR (SWEATERS, JACKETS, COATS)

Please CLEARLY LABEL the tags of any outerwear with your child’s name. Students often forget and leave their clothing behind on the yard, in the classrooms, or at the afterschool program.  This will help with identification and return of apparel.  Please check the lost and found when an item has been misplaced.
